What is Hydroponics?

IMG_0181

Hydroponics  is a method of raising plants using mineral nutrient solutions, in water, without the use of soil. Terrestrial plants may be grown with their roots in the mineral nutrient solution only or in an inert medium, such as gravel. Hydroponics is a superior growing method for certain plants but not a catch all performance booster. Sustainability is an utmost concern to us here at Terrapin Farms, we recirculate all of our water in our greenhouses so there is a 0% run off rate. to lessen our draw on the local water table, we collect an average of 300,000 gallons a year of rainwater to be used on our farm.

“Organic Hydroponics is not without its difficulties, but it is often the road less traveled that is the most rewarding” JH
